Bantwana/Uganda Partners

Bantwana works with partners in Uganda at three levels: To improve and strengthen their management and strategic abilities; to expand their range of technical services; and to bring community organizations together with government officials to learn from one another, share resources, and strengthen relationships and understanding about emerging issues facing children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV and AIDS. Partners include:

  • All Saints Church and Bantwana collaborate to provide vocational training and psychosocial support to adolescent OVC in Kapchorwa district in uganda.
  • Bringing Hope to the Family provides education, health, and social welfare services to 1,500 OVC, and 210 HIV-infected children.
  • Bukibolo Women's Orphan's Group has identified specific priorities for improving the quality of life for OVC and is working with Bantwana to strengthen each of these areas.
  • Buseta Community HIV and AIDS Initiative (BUCAI) and Bantwana have collaborated on the Orphans Livelihoods Education Project to provide comprehensive care for OVC.
  • Busiita United Women’s Group aims to teach livelihood skills to OVC to give them sustainable income sources for the future.
  • Kaguma Broad Based Integrated Child Care Project (KABBICCA) works with OVC households through self-help groups on IGAs and education.
  • Karambi Alliance for Community Development of Orphans and Widows (KACDOW) runs two schools and offers socio-economic support for their community through poultry and garden programs, and savings and loan schemes.
  • Kyembogo Farmers’ Association (KYEFA) assists and empowers rural populations in 64 villages through training in agriculture and animal husbandry, and provides community sensitization around HIV and AIDS, peace building, micro-enterprise, and the environment.
  • Literacy and Empowerment uses a support-group model to work with OVC and people living with HIV, and provides training to farmers on animal husbandry, and community groups on micro-credit.
  • Ngombe Community Health Care Project is a faith-based organization working with approximately 180 OVC focusing on education, psychosocial, socioeconomic support, and child protection.
  • Rural Welfare Improvement for Development (RWIDE) provides support to OVC in the forms of nutrition, scholastic materials, mosquito nets, and income-generating activities.
